Alan Hunt

Family History
Alan was born on February 1, 1960 to Kenneth and Janice Hunt. The Hunts have owned and operated Hunt Drug Company since 1964 when they purchased the former Meadows Drug Store.

Alan's maternal grandparents, the late Forrest and Tula James, were owners of Piedmont's Gurley and James Furniture from 1945 until 1970. Forrest was also a director at the First National Bank for several years. Alan's paternal grandparents, Catherine Hunt and the late Odis Hunt, both retired from Standard-Coosa-Thatcher Company.

Alan married the former Phyllis Pope in 1980. Phyllis graduated from Piedmont High School in 1977 and from Jacksonville State University in 1979 with a B.S. in Secondary Education. She now works as legal assistant and office manager with Alan Hunt, L.L.C Phyllis' parents are Teddy and Lottie Pope. The Pope family has owned several local businesses over the years including the Dari Cup, Pope's Clothing Store, Pope's Furniture and Pope Realty and Appraisal, Inc. (currently owned by her brother, Phillip Pope).

Alan and Phyllis have two children. Ashley is a 1999 graduate of Piedmont High School and received an MBA from Auburn University in 2003. She is married to Ryan Simpson and resides in Houston, Texas. Kent is a 2004 graduate of Piedmont High School and is a student at Auburn University.

Education

Alan graduated from Piedmont High School in 1978 and served as valedictorian of his class. He received a B.S. in Pharmacy from Auburn University in 1980, where he was a member of Rho Chi and Phi Eta Sigma. He currently holds a pharmacist license in both Alabama and Florida. He was awarded a Juris Doctorate from Birmingham School of Law in 1997. Alan graduated in the top 10 of his class at Auburn and BSL.
